Charles F. King was born on March 24, 1818. He apparently entered Georgetown College as a student in 1828 and joined the Society of Jesus on Sept. 3, 1834. After several years at the Frederick (Md.) Novitiate he returned to Georgetown in 1837 to study philosophy. From 1841 until 1844 he taught at the Jesuit college in Frederick, followed by theological studies at Georgetown during 1845-1848. After his ordination to the priesthood in 1849 he joined the faculty at Georgetown and taught at the university during 1850-1851 and 1853-1855. In 1856 he was assigned to Loyola College in Baltimore, Md., and taught there until 1869. Fr. King was beginning to do missionary work out of the Frederick Novitiate when he died on March 20, 1870 at Pottstown, Pa.
