Richard T. May was born in New Hampshire in 1915. He completed four years of college and was working as a teacher when he enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1942 at Boston, Mass. He joined the 10th Mountain Division while it was engaged in mountain and winter warfare training at Camp Hale, Colo. He was assigned initially to the 90th Infantry Regiment.
