The Alexander Collection contains the political papers of Scott Alexander accumulated during his period in the Arizona Legislature from 1964 to 1984. The papers include political correspondence, proposed bills, pamphlets and articles related to proposed legislation and political issues. Additional clippings and documents highlight Alexander’s elections for office in both the Arizona House and later the Senate. Of special note to researchers will be materials related to Sandra Day O’Connor, first female Supreme Court Justice, who was from Arizona and related to Alexander. Alexander collected a large quality of clippings, articles, and background information relating to O’Connor’s confirmation in 1981.

Sandra Day O’Connor was born in El Paso, Texas, March 26, 1930. She married John Jay O’Connor III in 1952 and has three sons - Scott, Brian, and Jay. She received her B.A. and LL.B. from Stanford University. She served as Deputy County Attorney of San Mateo County, California from 1952–1953 and as a civilian attorney for Quartermaster Market Center, Frankfurt, Germany from 1954–1957.
