Richard Cobbold's sermons are bound in 17 volumes and roughly cover the 1840-1860 period; there is also one column of his handwritten 'Canticles of Life'. A copy of Richard Cobbold's well known book The history of Margaret Catchpole (first published in 1845) is in the collection, together with a volume of postcards, pictures and prints related to this subject and a copy of George Goldsmith Carter's 1949 book 'Margaret Catchpole: the girl from Wolfkettel'. The collection consists of bound volumes of manuscript sermons by the Rev. Richard Cobbold, and published works by Cobbold and his mother Elizabeth. Certain other works, mainly by or about members of the Cobbold family (including Rev. John Spencer Cobbold, Lady Evelyn Cobbold and Mirabel Cobbold) are also included.
