Hide Profile

The Cobbold Family is historically associated with Suffolk. Well-known family members in the nineteenth century include Elizabeth Cobbold (1767-1824), a poetical writer, and clergy such as John Spencer Cobbold (1768-1837) and Richard Cobbold (1797-1877). The early Australian convict and prisoner Margaret Catchpole worked for Elizabeth Cobbold prior to her transportation in 1800, and wrote a number of letters to Elizabeth from New South Wales.
