Churchill at war [microform] : the Prime Minister's Office papers. 1940-1945.

Collection of papers from Churchill's wartime premiership, divided into two classes: PREM 3, Operational papers; and PREM 4, Confidential papers. The Operational Correspondence and Papers relate to the conduct of World War II, reflecting the activities of the Prime Minister in his role as Minister of Defense. They detail a wide range of international wartime activities. The Confidential Correspondence and Papers contain material relating to the work of the British civil departments during the war. They detail wartime activity and policies concerning issues on the homefront.

Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, on 30 November 1874. He was educated at Harrow and the Royal Military College at Sandhurst before joining the Army in 1895 and serving in India and Sudan. After leaving the Army in 1899, he worked as a war correspondent for the Morning Post and the following year was elected Conservative Member of Parliament for Oldham.
