The great bulk of this collection is correspondence files with various subject headings. There are also minutes, financial records, maps, plans, photographs, news cuttings, printed material. All aspects of the Australian Inland Mission (A.I.M.) are represented, including history, the Aerial Medical Service, hospitals and hostels, United Church in Northern Australia, National and State Councils, publicity material, Far North Children's Health Scheme, Federal Methodist Inland Mission, patrol padres, Rev. John Flynn and Rev. Fred McKay. Also several artefacts and pieces of A.I.M. equipment. In 1977 the A.I.M. changed its name to Uniting Church in Australia Frontier Services.

Rev. John Flynn joined the Home Missions staff of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1902. The activities of the Australian Inland Mission in the Northern Territory and adjacent sparsley populated areas were initiated and directed by Flynn for 39 years. The Australian Inland Mission was established by the Presbyterian Church of Australia's Board of Inland Missions on the recommendation of Rev. John Flynn, in 1912. Flynn was appointed organizing agent and superintendent. Eight patrols and hospitals in several towns form the basis of A.I.M. activities, which also include the Far North Children's Health Scheme, Old Timer's Homes, hostels and colleges.
