The papers include correspondence with other Catholic social clubs, mainly in Sydney and correspondence relating to the functions of the club; minutes of meetings; club agendas and magazines; financial papers; revue notes, programs and accounts; miscellaneous notes. The minutes start in 1954 but the other papers begin in the early sixties.

The Marian Club of Canberra was established in March 1954 to provide religious, social and cultural activities for unmarried Catholics resident in the many hostels in the city. Later the membership was widened to admit persons living privately. Father B. Lynch was its first Chaplain. For the first five years, 1954-1959, it met met fortnightly at the Hotel Canberra.
