Two volumes of translation from Aristophanes by Dr Gilbert Murray, Australian classical scholar, author and professor of Greek at Oxford (1923-1936). The first volume is a translation of Aristophanes' "The Birds", published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd, 1950. Attached to the volume are several newspaper cuttings about Professor Murray and two letters from him, dated 21 March 1950 and 7 January 1951. These include references to current politics and the United Nations Association. The second translation is of Aristophanes' "The Knights", published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd, 1956. This include two newspapers cuttings and a letter from Murray to Fanshawe, dated 28 February 1955, refering to this translation of "The Knights"
