[Coffer] [realia]. [18--?]

A trunk with back support, carved, of several different styles and periods. The carving on the front does not match the back support, although the colour is the same. The back may possibly be a 17th century door used to restore the damaged top of the trunk. There are six small rust-coloured painted arches of a later period on the front lower panel. Contains a herb box for storing lavender. Bought by Rose Grainger and used in their home in Chelsea, London between 1909-1914.

1 coffer : oak ; 99 x 97 x 47 cm.
