Marketa Sagiova started playing the piano at age six, and at the age of eight was accepted as a student by Professor Bloch of the Liszt Ferencz Academy in Budapest (then the Royal Academy of Music). At sixteen she began studying singing at the same academy, before relocating to Vienna to continue her study.
