Leather bound album, with metal inserts contain portraits of the Hoddle and Baxter families. Includes notes from Mrs. B. Baxter to George B. Pritchard. The album is dated May 4th 1870. Most of the photographs are females of the Baxter family. There is a photograph of R. Hoddle, Jr. and two of Mrs. R. Hoddle. This material was collected by Dr. G.B. Pritchard.

Robert Hoddle arrived in New South Wales in 1823 and worked with J. Oxley in Queensland and the Blue Mountains. In 1837 he was appointed senior surveyor at Port Phillip and designed Melbourne, Geelong, Williamstown and many other Victorian settlements. George Baxter Pritchard was head of the school of mines at the Working Men's College (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) 1897-1934.
