Enlisted 1917. As Captain stationed at Camp Custer and Camp Sherman, Ohio (1922-25) and later the U. of Pennsylvania. During World War II was instructor at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. and assigned to staff of General George C. Marshall as Lt. Colonel. As Major General was president of a military commission convened to prosecute Tomoyuki Yamashita. Continued to compile the OFFICER'S GUIDE and other military handbooks through the 1960's.
