David Hall was born in Skaneateles, New York. In Jan. 1853 he travelled to Australia on the Eagle in search of gold. He did not find enough to pay for a return passage and, after Feb. 1855, his family never heard from him again. He died in Heathcote, Victoria, on 14 Sept. 1889 and was buried in an unmarked grave.
