Artist, art critic. Haefliger studied at the Julian Ashton School, Sydney, and in London, Europe, India and Japan. Married to painter Jean Bellette, he returned to Sydney in 1939 and worked on 'Art in Australia'. In the early 40's, Haefliger was appointed art critic for the Sydney Morning Herald, and supported the modernist ideas brought back to Australia by returning expatriates such as Dobell, Passmore, Friend and Drysdale. Art dealer. Gisella Scheinberg was born in Hungary in 1921 and came to Australia as a Jewish refugee in 1948. She founded the Holdsworth Galleries in Woollahra, Sydney, in 1969, and ran it successfully for 28 years.
