Diary, 1766.

This diary, interleaved in a 1766 almanac, includes infrequent one-line entries, including where she dined, whom she visited, who preached, etc. There are several references to her father and her brother, Edward Augustus Holyoke (1728-1829), a Marblehead physician. She also mentions the rejoicing in Boston and Cambridge at the repeal of the Stamp Act. Also included are a few personal accounts. At the front of the diary she has copied a long prayer.

Priscilla Holyoke (1739-1782) was born in Cambridge, Mass., where her father, Edward Holyoke (1689-1769) was president of Harvard College. In 1780, she married Eliphalet Pearson (1752-1826). Edward Augustus Holyoke was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts on August 1, 1728. He attended Harvard College during his father Edward Holyoke's tenure as President and graduated in 1746. After graduation he worked for a short time as a schoolmaster before beginning to study medicine and became a doctor in Salem, Massachusetts.
