Prayer-book, ca. 1500?, Netherlands?

Small size and emphasis on devotion to the Blessed Virgin suggests this was commission-for a woman. Triomphe l'oeil borders and naturalistic flora and fauna marginal decorations might be Dutch, Flemish or northern French. Text contains Ordinary of the Mass of the Blessed Virgin, Gospel selections relating to her, the Marian hours and office, seven Psalms, and the vigil for the dead. There are 9 full p. ill., all on verso of leaves: Mass of the Virgin Mary (woman kneeling at right might be book's owner), ℓ. 1; Annunciation, 1. 16; Visitation to Elizabeth, 1. 38; Nativity of Christ, 1. 53; Herald angel and shepards, l. 59; Adoration of the Magi, 1. 65; Circumcision of Christ, 1. 71; Slaughter of the innocents, 1. 77; and Mary with the Trinity in glory. Ill. are unsigned and there is no colophon.
