Maude Ward Lafferty papers, 1865-1955.

The Maude Ward Lafferty papers contain materials, such as biographical sketches, clippings, reports, and manuscripts used for Mrs. Lafferty's research on various topics including: the history of the University of Kentucky, John B. Bowman, Choctaw Indian Academy, and Scott County (Kentucky) history. The collection also includes some of Mrs. Lafferty's writings, her correspondence, articles written about Mrs. Lafferty, and two scrapbooks containing clippings and photographs of Mrs. Lafferty and her family. There are also two boxes of note cards, which appear to be citations of articles, books, and other materials which Mrs. Lafferty used in her research.

Maude Ward Lafferty was noted for her research. She was born in 1869 in Cynthiana, Kentucky where she also graduated from high school. She continued her education and graduated from a Paris, Kentucky convent as well. She was the wife of Judge William Thornton Lafferty who established the University of Kentucky's College of Law.
