Account book, 1846-1859.

This octavo volume begins with an one-page list of dividends received from David Greenough's estate by Charlotte Greenough, later Charlotte Greenough Parker, for the period 1851 to 1859. The remainder of the volume records the income and expenditures of the Charles H. Parker household for the period 1851 to 1855. The income and expenditures are recorded on a daily basis, however the expenditures are summarized each month, quarter, and year. The expenditures for Charles H. Parker, Charlotte G. Parker, Emily, Charley, Alfred, and "the baby" include provisions (e.g., meat, bread, milk), housekeeping, charity, books and stationary, dress, wages, tuition, amusement, medicine, lights, riding, fuel, presents, sundries, apothecary, water, dentist, and travel, among others. It is unclear as to who Emily, Charley, and Alfred are. They could possibly be the younger siblings of Parker, or perhaps a niece and nephews. Whoever they are though, they are being well take care of. As well as the daily income and expenses, the volume also includes individual accounts for each of the domestic help. The volume also contains six miscellaneous papers including an undated letter from Louisa Greenough (1809- ) to her sister Ellen Greenough Huntington (1814- ); and undated invitation from a Mrs. Ticknor to Mr. & Mrs. Parker; an undated list of "...regular expenses always to be paid"; a list of expenses paid for the period July 1846 to July 1847; an undated receipted bill from Mrs. C. H. Johnson to Mrs. Parker regarding washing; and an undated receipted bill from J. H. Wright to Mr. Greenough.
