Scrapbook includes letters of introduction, invitation, and thanks, and letters regarding the post office and postal service, the life of Hall's law partner Solomon G. Haven, and various congressional bills. Correspondents include senators, representatives, and other government officials. There are also many invitations, tickets, programs, menus, and newspaper clippings relating to Wells College, the First Unitarian Church of Buffalo, Buffalo Female Academy, the Union Continentals, and other institutions and organizations. Also, many Buffalo newspaper carriers' New Year addressses; a broadside by Gerrit Smith, 19 Sept. 1853, regarding the Fugitive Slave Law, addressed to the people of the County of Ontario; and a printed order of procession for the funeral of John Quincy Adams, 24 Feb. 1848..

Solomon George Haven (1810-1861) was a lawyer and politician from western New York during the antebellum period. Born in Guilford, New York, in 1810, Haven was well educated and initially intended to pursue a medical career.
