ALS, 1792 February 6 : [s.l], to [Ann Thompson Gerry].

Written during the period when Gerry was a member of the U.S. Representatives, he speaks of social calls and of political matters. He says of Madison: " ... he expressed his mind more freely on politics than he ever did to me before & went so far as to acknowledge that the administration of this constitution is carried to an extreme that he never expected: particularly in fiscal matters. he is very much alarmed at a report on manufactures which is directed to incorporate a company with exclusive privileges and also at the large amount of property under the control of the Secretary of the Treasury ..."
