Material collected by Dwight and Lucy Hunter and other family members on John Dos Passos. Dos Passos is Lucy Hunter's cousin. The collection, which includes material sent to the Hunters by Dos Passos and other material collected by the Hunters, includes the following: twelve letters to the Hunters (1939-1970); newspaper clippings of interviews with Dos Passos (1941-1968); an essay by Joseph Epstein titled, Did John Dos Passos write the Great American Novel after all? published in The New Yorker on August 5, 1996; newspaper clippings about Dos Passos (circa. 1940s-1980s); newspaper clippings of reviews of books written by or about Dos Passos (circa. 1937-1996); newspaper clippings concerning the death of Dos Passos (1970); pages from Life Magazine containing articles written by Dos Passos during World War II (1940s); a copy of the Saturday Review (March 15, 1969) containing an essay on Dos Passos by literary historian Alfred Kazin; a copy of the Saturday Review World (September 11, 1973) containing a review of The Fourteenth Chronicle: Letters and Diaries of John Dos Passos, edited by Townsend Ludington; a copy of National Geographic (September 1987); a catalog for an exhibit of Dos Passos' work (manuscripts, letters, and paintings) at the University of Virginia (1975); and a catalog for an exhibit of Dos Passos' paintings and drawings at The Virginia Museum in Richmond (1980).
