Lennox Robinson collection, 1940-1958.

The collection consists of personal and literary papers of Lennox Robinson from 1940-1958. The papers include correspondence relating to the Yeats Memorial Fund and discusses fundraising plans, development of the memorial sculpture, and Henry Moore's work on the memorial. Major correspondents include Joseph Hone, Raymond McGrath, and William Walsh. The collection also includes several versions of a manuscript for a three-part work, LIFE OF YEATS.

William Henry Walsh was born in Leeds on 10 December 1913. He was educated at Bradford and Leeds Grammar Schools, and studied at Merton College, Oxford. In 1936 he won a Junior Research Fellowship at Merton, focussing on philosophy. Between 1940 and 1941 Walsh served with the Royal Corps of Signals and then was employed by the Foreign Office, 1941-1945. Raymond McGrath was born in Sydney, where he graduated in Architecture in 1926. He spent most of of his life in Ireland, where for 20 years he was principal architect in Dublin's Office of Public Works.
