Thomas H. English papers, 1905-1990.

The collection contains the papers of Thomas H. English from 1905-1990. The papers include correspondence, poetry, photographs, articles and speeches, scrapbooks, bookplates, greeting cards, memorabilia, subject files, medals, collected material, manuscripts, and an audiocassette and videocassette. Materials relate to English's teaching and writing career; his books MEMORY VERSE: THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF OCCASIONAL VERSE (1953), EMORY UNIVERSITY, 1915-1965: A SEMICENTENNIAL HISTORY (1966), MEMORY BOOK: PERSONS AND OCCASIONS OF A LONG LIFE, and other publications; his participation in the Southern Humanities Conference; Atlanta poets; and his days at Blackburn College and Princeton University. There are also personal correspondence to English from his parents (1906-1948), letters to English from various friends and associates, and bookplates and commemorative medals collected by English.
