Events covered include two films by Robert Flaherty ("Harvests for tomorrow" and "The Land"); publication of the Spade and Farmer's guard; campaign of R.M. Evans for senator (Iowa); Henry A. Wallace's appointment of Secretary of Commerce (1945) and Darrow's recollections of Wallace. Correspondents include Claude Wickard, Henry A. Wallace. Wayne Darrow was a close observer of politics and therefore much of the information pertains to various election years.

Claude Raymond Wickard (1893-1967) his family''s farm in Carroll County, Indiana. In 1915 he began his long career as an agriculturist upon graduation from Purdue University with a B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry.
