Wayne Darrow was an official in the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and later a journalist and publisher of Washington farmletter (D.C.). He was born April 12, 1894 at Lakewood, New York, the son of James Eugene and Julia Irene (Bugbee) Darrow. He grew up in Lakewood and attended Cornell University from which he received his bachelor of Science Degree in 1916. Also in 1916, he married Linda Marshall. He was a farm manager in Hale County, Texas in 1916-18; county and district agent for the Texas A & M College Extension Service 1919-26; extension editor 1926-34. He served as Southwestern information representative in the Agricultural Adjustment Administration 1934-37; chief of the AAA Regional Contact Section 1937-38; and as Director of the AAA Information Division 1939-42. His last position in USDA was Director of the Agricultural Labor Administration in 1943. In the spring of 1943, Mr. Darrow resigned from the USDA and began the Washington farmletter (D.C.) and served as editor until 1969.
