Educator of Quincy, Mass. Chiefly letters from Tyler to his parents during a trip to Europe (1869-70) with William Everett, U.S. Representative from Massachusetts. Includes letters from Everett to Tyler describing congressional activities in Washington, D.C. (1893-94) and his attendance at the Democratic National Convention in Indianapolis in 1896. Throughout Everett's correspondence, Adams Academy at Quincy, Mass. remains a major topic of interest and his letters include the conveyance of administrative decisions of the school to Tyler as headmaster.

Classicist William Everett was born in Massachusetts, and educated at Harvard and Cambridge; he took one degree in law, and also studied for the ministry. He held positions as an educator at Harvard, Adams Academy, and other institutions, and served in Congress as a Democrat, completing the term of the resigned Henry Cabot Lodge.
