ALS, 1790 April 19 : New York, to a group of "Gentlemen" from Charlestown, Massachusetts.

Written to men who were seeking compensation for their losses suffered during the opening months of the American Revolution. Gerry says: "The sacrifice of your property on ... the 17th of June 1775, was made at the altar of American Liberty ..." This was the date of the Battle of Bunker Hill.
