The Henri and Joseph Amedee Fourrier Papers primarily consist of sacred musical scores composed and copied by Henri Fourrier and sacred and popular musical scores arranged and copied by Joseph Amedee Fourrier. Also included are a bookplate from the Institution Royale des Jeunes Aveugles in Paris (1838) and a report probably concerning members of the St. Joseph Cathedral choir (1915).

Henri Fourrier was a French composer and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in Paris. His son, Joseph Amedee Fourrier (1853-1939), was born in Plaquemine, La., and came to Baton Rouge in 1880. He was organist of St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge for 38 years, established the Fourrier Music House in Baton Rouge in 1894, and directed the Fourrier Concert Band.
