Joseph Amedee Fourrier (1853-1939), was born in Plaquemine, La., and came to Baton Rouge in 1880. He was organist of St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge for 38 years, established the Fourrier Music House in Baton Rouge in 1894, and directed the Fourrier Concert Band. He was the son of Henri Fourrier, a French composer and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in Paris.
