Correspondence with Carl Zigrosser, 1930-1968.

Carl Zigrosser met René D'Harnoncourt through their mutual interest in Mexico, having met there in 1930. Zigrosser showed D'Hranoncourt's work at the Weyhe Gallery, and many of the letters have to do with shipments of work and exhibition plans. There are also letters concerning D'Harnoncourt's involvement with an exhibit of Mexican art toured by the American Federation of Arts in 1931, and another exhibit of Mexican Indian art in 1937. The letters are playful and often illustrated. There is a photograph of D'Harnoncourt taken in Mexico by Zigrosser in 1930, as well as clippings from the time of D'Harnoncourt's death, a tribute to their friendship written by Zigrosser and a copy of the programs from a memorial service at the Museum of Modern Art in 1968.
