Correspondence to Franz Werfel, 1926,1939.

The 1926 item was written in response to a letter from Werfel, and constituted Zweig's first personal exchange with Werfel, although he expresses that he had been long been an admirer of Werfel's poetry; he was also sending Werfel a copy of his play Die Umkehr des Abtrünnigen. In 1939, writing from Haifa, Zweig implies that he had recently met Franz and Alma Mahler in person for the first time, apparently during a visit to France, while Franz and Alma were living in Sanary-sur-mer.
