Correspondence, account books, wills, deeds, bonds, indentures, receipts, court records, military records, and genealogical materials of the Satterly family, including Daniel, William, Isaac, Henry, and John R. Satterly. New York Militia records of various family members date from 1711 to 1837. Deeds for the Satterly lands and business correspondence involve the Satterlys and members of the Dickerson, Hallack, Hawkins, Hulse, Robbins, Thompson, and Tyler families. Account books record expenses for shipbuilding and outfitting; and costs of maintaining highways in the Town of Brookhaven. Other items of note include records of a Setauket grist mill, starting with articles of agreement between John Wade and the inhabitants of Brookhaven concerning the mill; indentures, receipts, and bills of sale for blacks, and a document pertaining to a Negro burying ground; and records of the Temperance Society of Setauket, 1830s.
