Letters, receipts, notes, deeds, indentures, certificates and other papers of Thompson and his family. A large portion of the collection consists of letters of Benjamin F. Thompson of Hempstead to Samuel Ludlow Thompson, of Setauket, and concern family matters and some business dealings. Also, miscellaneous papers of his father, Samuel Thompson,; an indenture of B.F. Thompson giving up claim to the estate of his father; a letter to Samuel L. Thompson from "niece Mary" requesting his portrait, 1838; letters to Samuel L. Thompson from Abraham Thompson in Paris, 1838; and a certificate, dated at the Manor of St. George, 1699, signed by William Smith, about "Samuell Tompson [sic] and Hannah his wife" as administrators for the estate of John Muncy.
