Papers, 1795-1846.

Papers of Richard Rapalje, Catherine Rapalje, and William E. Rapalje of Fishkill, consist of letter books, copybooks of maps and deeds, account book, journals, and estate records. William's papers concern his attendance at Union College, 1820-1822, his sailing experiences, 1825, a trip abroad in 1831, banking in Dutchess County, property and business matters, and family and personal affairs, 1830-1831. Richard's papers concern militia affairs, 1795-1808, sales of farm goods, 1820-1827, a dispute over the course of a local road, William's death in 1833 and subsequent dispute over his estate, 1833-1846, property matters, and a law suit with Elizabeth Van Wyck, 1846. Catherine's papers consist of a journal kept intermittently between 1836-1845 concerning school, social life, family matters, and Fishkill events.
