Business and personal papers of five generations of the Constable family include appointments of Dr. John Constable as military surgeon, 1761-1762; letter by William Constable concerning a bond, 1785; letter from LaFayette to William Constable expressing his thanks and hopes of seeing Constable in Paris, 1800; letter from Robert Morris to Mrs. William Constable on the death of her husband, 1803; family account books, including one from a sawmill at Turin, 1805-1815; letterpress copybook containing letters from Casimir Constable to his estate agent Charles Goff regarding land and financial transactions, livestock, farm products, taxes, and other business concerns, 1887-1890; correspondence between Howard Constable and Harry Cox regarding land and financial transactions, 1911; two letters from Thomas A. Edison to John P. Constable regarding his employment with Edison, 1920-1921; and family photographs. Other items include two letters by Morgan Lewis regarding business matters, 1811, and prisoner of war at Sackets Harbor, 1813; physician's license issued to Royal D. Dewey, 1817; Civil War diary of Charles Lovejoy of Lowville, 1863; receipt book of Turin Plank Road Company, 1847-1848; and record book from School District No. 7, Constableville, 1815-1857.
