William Codman Sturgis (1862-1942) was a botanist specializing in the Myxomycetes. He was also active as a layperson in the Episcopal Church. He earned his Ph.D. at Harvard College in 1887. From 1891-1901 he was a plant pathologist with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and a lecturer at Yale School of Forestry.
