Papers consist largely of typescripts and manuscripts of Walsh's writings including travel essays, with transcribed letters, describing trips to Spain, Italy, and France; poetry; fiction; many translations from Spanish poetry; book reviews; essays on Spanish literature including "Fray Luis de Leon and the Golden Age of Salamanca"; notes for his books including HISPANIC ANTHOLOGY, published 1920; typescripts and related clippings of his COMMONWEAL column, "The Quiet Corner," 1920's. The collection also includes correspondence to Walsh and family members from such literary figures as Richard Le Gallienne, 1921; Mary Colum, 1943; and Joyce Kilmer's mother, Anne Kilburn Kilmer, which includes a poem by Mrs. Kilmer, 1915; also photos; clippings; and pamphlets published by the Lithuanian National Council, 1919, concerning Lithuanian independence.

Richard Le Gallienne, British journalist and author, was a prolific writer during the late 19th and early 20th century. His early mentor was Oliver Wendell Holmes. Le Gallienne wrote My ladies' sonnets (1887), and the romantic novel, The quest of the golden girl (1896). He published The romantic nineties (1926), while working as a journalist in New York.
