This record group contains the board of directors minutes; some board of directors correspondence, including a letter from George Eastman concerning a $10,000 donation; a few of the hospital's annual reports (1889/90. 1960-1979, 1987); Highland Hospital newsletters (Hahnemann Advocate, Highland Advocate, Highland Highlights); departmental newsletters; newspaper clippings about Highland Hospital and its employees (laminated); employee and patient handbooks; and brochures about various departments and programs. This record group also contains: fundraising materials and reports; bequests to the hospital; construction information about several of the buildings, including material recovered from the original time capsule; chronologies; printed histories; anniversary material; photographs; photo albums; slides; negatives; and an 8mm film.

Joseph Biegler founded Highland Hospital in 1889 as a six-bed hospital. Originally called Hahneman Homeopathic Hospital, it was known as the "rebel on the hill" because of its then-radical conviction that patients should be cared for as people, instead of as interesting specimens of illnesses or collections of symptoms.
