Heaslet, both serving with the 139th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, concerning the battles of 2nd Manassas, Cold Harbor, the aftermath of the siege of Petersburg, foraging for food, desertion in the Union and Confederate ranks, the U.S. Sanitary Commission, religious services in the camps, rumors, and Lee's surrender. Included are a tract of the American Tract Society and a sketch of the battle lines at Fredericksburg.
