In May 1825 the American Tract Society, located in Boston (formerly New England Tract Society), merged with the New York Religious Tract Society to form the American Tract Society, located at New York, N.Y.

Nondenominational Christian publishing house; founded, 1825; produced Christian books, booklets, magazines, and leaflets; began distribution of materials in the 1940s through messagers known as colporteurs, who also raised funds for the Society.
