The J. Hampton Hoch Papers, 1952-1970, consist of 18 folders of material documenting Hoch's research and teaching interest in the history of pharmacy. The files are arranged alphabetically within two series: class notes and research. The class notes series consists of Hoch's handwritten notes for his history of pharmacy course in the School of Pharmacy at the Medical College of the State of South Carolina. These notes are organized by week of instruction and include both his handwritten notes and supporting documentation. Research series consists of materials collected and written by Hoch about topics pertaining to the history of pharmacy, particularly biographical sketches of South Carolina physicians and scientists. Other research materials seem to support parts of his books, History of pharmacy in South Carolina, 1951, and An academic genealogy of the first faculty of the Medical College of South Carolina, 1968.
