From a small beginning in May 1932, the Methodist Crusaders Choir, then with 75 choristers, was hurriedly formed and made its first public appearance at the General Conference Meetings of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It is primarily a hymn-singing choir, and the devoted members feel that the main purpose in their coming together is to spread the gospel message of the Church by means of song. Resident of Janesville, Wis., who traveled overland to California in 1849, worked in the gold fields there until 1852, then returned (via Panama and New York) to Janesville, where he established a nursery, which he operated until he retired in 1899; the last years of his life were spent in Lake Mills, Wis.
