Resident of Janesville, Wis., who traveled overland to California in 1849, worked in the gold fields there until 1852, then returned (via Panama and New York) to Janesville, where he established a nursery, which he operated until he retired in 1899; the last years of his life were spent in Lake Mills, Wis.
