Secretarius camerae : indulgentiarum, 1481-1725.

This series is a very mixed collection of indulgences and other Datary material. Though both the Secretariat and Camera are frequently involved, MacFarlane suggests that the series is probably best considered as a part of the Datary. Boyle puts Secretarius Camerae with the Datary (see p. 54). Pasztor puts it with the Camera. Vols. 65, 74, 78-83, 108-112, 115-124, 146-149, 154-156, 163, and 166 form the Secretaria Apostolica series Diversorum. Several Secretarius Camerae volumes are now parts of other series. Sec. Cam. 211 is now Camera Apostolica, Rubricelle resignationes 7; Sec. Cam. 213 is now Camera Apostolica, Taxae 23; Sec. Cam. 215 and 217 are now, respectively, Camera Apostolica, Computorum 5 and 7. There is a variant title on select spines: "Matrimonialia."

19 linear m. (222 v. nos.).

This became important if the same benefice was granted to two persons, because the earliest dated concession generally carried priority. There were other instances where a date might be important, for examp...

The Apostolic Camera, one of the most ancient of the offices of the Roman Curia, was originally responsible for the administration of the temporalities and revenues of the Holy See. Although the term Camera appeared for the first time in Benedict VIII's constitution Quoties illa a Nobis (24 May 1017), some authors state it was the continuation of an office that had existed and been known for a long time as palatium or fiscus under the direction of the archdeacon who remained at the ...
