This series was begun by the Camera clerks early in the fifteenth century, and now comprises ninety volumes. They may have begun as libri quindenniorum, but they soon began to include quittances for bishops' obligations, taxes on the papal states, tenths, the census and other dues of the Camera. Those who consult it, however, will find very useful information relating to the religious corporations then paying it. Boyle notes that quindennia are "taxes paid every fifteen years on benefices annexed to religious corporations." The volumes also contain records of other taxes, tenths, and quittances of census.
