Papers, 1912-1969.

The papers of this prominent university librarian are divided equallybetween personal and professional activity. There is a significant amountof correspondence with his family; his father Paul, his wife Abigail, and his brother Richard. The collection also includes Hausdorfer's diaries (1939-1963), as well as sketches and prose and poetry. The personal materials also include maps, postcards, guidebooks, and photographs, documenting trips to Europe, Canada, and South America.

Walter Hausdorfer began his library career as a student assistant in the Sullivan Library, Temple Univ. In 1925 he became the Assistant Librarian. After obtaining his library degree at Columbia, Hausdorfer directed the Columbia School of Business Library for 16 years. Between 1946 and 1963 Hausdorfer served as head librarian at Temple Univ.
