Letter, 1907 April 11.

In 1906, the state legislature appointed a joint committee to investigate purchases of books by various state offices. John P. Kennedy, State Librarian, was questioned concerning books purchased for traveling libraries. This letter concerns the said investigation. Kennedy tendered his resignation to the Library Board on July 6, 1907, and Dr. Henry R. McIlwaine became the state librarian on July 8, 1907. Evans resigned as assistant state librarian on August 5, 1907. He was succeeded by Dr. Earl G. Swem.
