Tracts on Queen Caroline, 1820-1821.

Collection consists of 113 pamphlets bound into 6 vols., issued by several different London publishers, primarily in 1820, with some in 1821. The pamphlets deal with George IV's allegations of Caroline's adultery, the Bill of Pains and Penalties, and Caroline's claim to be crowned Queen alongside George. Most of the pamphlets are satirical in tone, and several feature illustrations caricaturing key figures. Many cartoons and caricatures by George Cruikshank (85) and his brother, Robert Cruikshank (14) can be found throughout the collection. Almost all of the pamphlets are anonymous or pseudonymous, although several have been attributed to William Hone, himself one of the publishers represented here.

113 pamphlets in 6 v. : ill. (some col.) ; 22 cm.
