Papers, 1938-1993.

The Eliot Stellar papers, 1940-1991, document, almost exclusively, the professional activities of Dr. Stellar. The Biographical and Personal File provides an overview of Stellar's academic career. It contains his curriculum vitae, a transcript of an oral history interview, and records of celebration activities in honor of his 70th birthday. His administrative papers are divided into two groups--those related to his posts at the University being filed in the Administrative series and those related to posts outside the University in the Other Organizations series. Stellar's research interests in the brain mechanism of human and animal behavior focusing on such areas as the motivation of rats for the hoarding of food, hunger and thirst, obesity, and salt appetite are documented in the Research files. A prominent feature of the Correspondence series is a large number of recommendations he wrote for his students and colleagues. The Addresses and Writings series contains mainly manuscripts and reprints of articles published from 1941 to 1993. The Teaching Material file consists of course syllabi and teaching notes. The Video Tapes and Memorabilia series contains eleven tapes related to a tribute to him on his 70th birthday.
